Here I am Colorado!

Postby Rastl » Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:05 pm

OK, that's a bit pretentious. But man it's fun to say!

Howdy all. My name's Marie, I'm ~coughcough~-two and live in the Denver/Aurora area. I just moved out here from WI and am very excited about being close to an active costume group.

I started with costumes at the local renn faire and spent 5 years in the Court. Of course I needed a new dress every year. I take some pride in that each year's new costume guidelines included something from my previous year's dress that was no longer allowed for my rank.

I competed in the 2004 CostumeCon historical masquerade and along with my group took an award which immediately bumped me up to Master. Talk about setting the bar high.

Right now I'm infatuated with the 1950s shirt dresses and am making them to suit myself. I'd be making more if my small bedroom wasn't stacked almost to the ceiling with boxes and I could actually set up my sewing machines. Along with the sewing I do the handcrafts that tend to go along with the historical stuff.

Anyhoo. To pay for my fabric habit I'm a database programmer. I also indulge in the time-space-money consuming hobby of miniature wargaming. I just can't win.

Welcome, Marie.

Were you in "Think Pink"? I wasn't at CC22 in Atlanta, but I looked it up. Are you going this year?

Yes, I was in "Think Pink". I was the 17th century one.

I don't have any plans to go to CC any time in the near future. Circumstances have moved me away from costuming, mostly because there wasn't any reason for me to make them.

A big hearly welcome to Colorado!

Glad to have another person to fill our ranks. Denver today, tomorrow, the world! Ahahaha!!! Sorry, that's just my megalomania coming into play. ;-)

I look forward to meeting you when I get back to the states. Enjoy the cool weather there for me!
